This compact kitchen was built into a studio flat in a housing scheme designed in 1979 by Terry Farrell. Our employer, Caz Hildebrand, demanded minimalism and simplicity. The island unit is built of three huge slabs of white marble terrazzo, and the remainder was formed of white painted particleboard textured to match the walls. We design virtually all the kitchens in the flat and house we convert – it is often more economical and always more ‘fitting’.
