Chinese pavilion
This Chinese Pavilion was part of a group of illustrations for an article for House & Garden showing our designs for garden buildings (hence the brash but accurate colour!). We undertook a project to design a bar in an extension to the Beijing Hotel early in 1989, some months before the Tiananmen Square demonstrations. Murray made an experimental design for a garden shelter based on his studies of Chinese timber construction and colour.
