Many of America’s wooded states adopted and developed Europe's 18th century Classical traditions. Because wood allowed freer construction than masonry, the Roman Orders were often stretched and distorted.
We adapted this drawing from one of the architectural monographs published by America’s White Pine Bureau, an organisation that promoted the use of softwood. We designed the elliptically arched Doric porch in 1985, and had it built and shipped to the USA.
