Sir John Soane’s Museum, Shakespeare Recess

It is rare for architectural practices to take such care in detailed design. Murray John Architects are in a position to do this because we understand how things are made and have set time aside to study traditional and modern methods. A meticulous survey of the “recess”, early drawings from the C19th and studies of typical detail throughout the Museum informed the character and personality of the restoration. This is a prominent feature of the main staircase at 13 Lincoln’s Inn Fields.
