Wallace Collection
The Trustees of the Wallace Collection, one of London's most important Rococo collections, asked us to write the historic appraisal to accompany their modernisation proposals. (Important historic buildings needs a conservation plan if English Heritage or Lottery money is involved.) Our research revealed that glazing over the internal courtyard of Hertford House had been mooted in the 19th century, and the conclusion was that Rick Mather's scheme would harm neither the historic fabric, nor the sense of the space.
