Conservation

No. 2 Olive Buildings, Tenby

The significance of this Regency terraced house lies in the unusual quantity of remaining original fabric. Our conservation strategy was to maintain lightness of touch coupled with full adherence to SPAB principles and techniques. We analysed the houses history, then tracked down the source of its damp and cured it. We retained serviceable plaster, wallpapers and paint finishes, and installed new services using the original chases. The paint on the doors in the photograph was washed only, and is unlikely to have been repainted for 80 years!
