St James, Norlands
St James's Church is a major local landmark, but its grim facades were an eyesore. It didn't meet the needs of the St James's Square neighbourhood, though a nursery school, designed by Ian Goldsmit, had brought the building to life during term-time. A generous legacy was available to repair the Bath stone facades and Gault brickwork, so facelifts and repairs progressed simultaneously.
