St Clement, Notting Dale
St Clement's Church, by James Piers St Aubyn, is an excellent example of the low-roofed rural style. It was in very poor condition in the mid 1990s; shoddy repairs and alterations had included painting the brick interior.
The repairs (after nine years, still in progress) have been carefully scheduled to coincide with budgeting opportunities. Conservation demanded dogged perseverance: 12 phases of work have coincided with new user groups occupying the principal buildings.
Over the course of several contracts, we have specified renewal of paint finishes, roof repairs and the removal of poor alterations. Any intervention is reversible and the original fabric is retained as far as possible.
