Moravian Close
One of Chelsea’s best-kept secrets is the Moravian Close, an 18th century burial ground belonging to the Moravian Church in the British Province. It was originally part of Sir Thomas More’s stables, and all the Tudor walls survive in a quadrangle of magnificent plane trees. The church required supplementary accommodation, and the existing houses and studios were economically conserved. This drawing is a study for one of the studios. A number of projects have been undertaken, including a new meeting room and a loo block built by Kevin Joyce and Late Developers.
